Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 8-31-2012

It's been a very difficult day, and I figured I could use a few laughs. So, here is a piece of the craziness that I call my life.

5.  When asked if he behaved in school today, Tyler responded with "I was really, really, really, really, really, really, really good!"

4.  Bailey has figured out how to run in place and thinks it's the best thing ever!

3.  Bailey thinks the diaper champ is magic. Every time I change her she screams until I hand her the dirty diaper. She places it in the pail, and Tyler turns the handle for her. My kids are easily entertained....

2.  Brandon got the vacuum out one evening after Bailey decided to break her crackers up into a million pieces all over the carpet. Tyler, Brandon, and Bailey spent 10 minutes playing "who can suck up who's body part". Again, my kids (and apparently my husband) are easily entertained.

1.  Tyler got new light up shoes for school and wore them on Wednesday. Everywhere he went he had to stomp his feet to show off the lights. And every time he did it, Bailey was 2 feet behind him stomping her feet looking for lights on her shoes too. I think she might need some twinkle toes soon!

I hope you have a great holiday weekend!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 8-25-2012

It's been a busy week! My first full week back at work and the kids first full week back at daycare. My classroom is set up, we had a successful open house, and in just a couple of days I'll get to meet my new kiddos. Oh, and Tyler will be starting Kindergarten!! Amongst all of this chaos, I did manage to find some laughs to write about.

5.  I was being lazy and eating a bowl of cereal on the couch. Bailey wanted some so I gave her a couple of bites. I guess I wasn't fast enough for her though because before I knew it her entire hand was in my bowl grabbing a fist full!!

4.  Tyler got up for daycare Tuesday and was told to get his clothes on. He returned to the living room sporting his new t-shirt for the day over top of his pj shirt. His response, "Oh man mom, I forgot to take off my other shirt!"

3.  I put Bailey on my bed one night while I was grabbing some clothes for in the morning. Our bed is pretty high up, around 3 feet. I turned around to catch her trying to crawl off of it backwards. She of course fell to the ground. I waited for a cry but instead she began laughing hysterically. This process repeated several times over.

2.  We have the rubber sticker-like door stoppers on the insides of our kitchen cabinets. Bailey found them, and now I can't.

1.  Tyler discovered the lovely noise that 2 walkie-talkies make when they are put too close together. I asked him to stop and he asked why. I said it hurts my ears and he asked me if my ears were going to go blind. Hmmmm, maybe?

Have a great weekend!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 8-18-2012

Grandma wanted to get in a few more days this summer with Tyler before he starts Kindergarten so he spent most of his week in SC. It's been a quiet week with just Bailey and I, but we enjoyed some great (and much needed) girl bonding time. But, I was busy trying to enjoy my time with her and slaked a little on finding some laughs. These are the best I could come up with!!

5.  Tyler is a very picky eater and Bailey will eat anything. Even strange things that kids aren't supposed to like. We went to O'Charlies for dinner this weekend and gave Bailey a variety of steak, chicken tenders and corn dogs. Instead, she chose to make a meal of A1 steak sauce. YUM!!

4.  It's fun to watch Bailey pick up on socialization skills. This last week she spent copying everyone around her from coughs, to laughs, to cries.

3.  I took Bailey on a shopping spree for some of that mommy/daughter bonding time. She spent the entire trip dropping things from the stroller just so she could use her newly discovered word "uh oh."

2.  Bailey's favorite word of all time is ball. She wakes up saying ball and notices them EVERYWHERE!! She went crazy in the produce departement with all of the oranges, apples, pineapples, grapes, etc! One of her favorite balls, the giant red one in front of our local target.
1.  I have been working on some baby gifts for a couple of friends. While at the kitchen table working on them I hear Bailey giggling. I look down to see her laying on the floor and touching a piece of fuzz with her finger. As soon as she got close to it, it would jump away causing more laughter to errupt! She spent 10 minutes playing with it, which is much longer then she ever plays with an actual toy!!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 8-10-2012

What a great last full week at home with the kids this has been. Okay, maybe I shouldn't have typed that since it brought tears to my eyes... Anyway, the kids defintally have made this summer wonderful and were plenty silly this week. I hope you enjoy our laughs!

5.  I went to get Bailey up from one of her naps this week and when I walked in this is what I found:
-Blankets - out
-All 4 pacifiers - out
-All 3 stuffed puppies - out
-Diaper - out
-Sheets - very wet
I guess I waited a little too long this time. :-)

4.  We are beginning a new reading program at school this year and I have been designated as my grade level's pilot teacher for the program. To prepare myself for this role, I have been very carefully reading and highlighting my resource book. Tyler watched me doing this one night and exclaimed "Mommy, why are you coloring in your book!?!"

3.  Tyler decided to build a "fire" in the living room, which was a large pile of toys. A little while later I told him he needed to clean up the mess and he responded by telling me that "it was Bailey's idea." Cause everyone knows that the 15 month old is capable of coming up with this!

2.  Tyler fell asleep on a bean bag chair watching cartoons one night and was snuggled up with one of his puppies. They are a security object that he is VERY attached too. They also cause a lot of arguments between him and Bailey. Bailey looked at him, gave him a hug, a kiss, took a puppy and ran as fast as she could!

1.  Tyler is (and has been for a while) convinced that Dad's truck is a transformer. He will tell you that it only transformers when your not looking and that it's head is under the hood. Brandon changed out the fuel filters in it this weekend and came back in covered in gunk. Tyler's response, "Daddy, did your transformer poop on you?"

Have a great weekend!

Moonshine Campground

We have been promising Tyler for the last 2 years that we would take him camping and finally did last weekend! We traveled to the south western part of the NC mountains to an amazing campground called Moonshine Creek Campground. Throughout the campground, a beautiful creek, Moonshine Creek, winds it way through the sites. Our site was on the end of the street and at a bend in the creek which made it even more special!

And, this fantastic campground was a very short distance from the Blue Ridge Parkway! We had very limited time to explore but did manage to make it up to one waterfall!

Overall, it was a great trip and I can't wait to go back and explore some more!!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 8-4-2012

I've been trying to stay busy all week to keep my mind from wondering off and realizing just how soon school will be starting. Of course it doesn't help that I've been buying school supplies for Tyler to begin his year at Kindergarten..... This week we've been camping, went to 2 different parks, and had some friends over. I hope you've had a fantastic week as well!

5.  We took a nice drive through the mountains on the Blue Ridge Parkway while we were camping. Our conversation went like this:
Tyler:  "Mom, are there bears in these woods?"
Me:  "Yes."
Tyler:  "But I don't like bears Mom."
Me:  "Why not?"
Tyler:  "Well, I only like talking bears."
I guess that discussion we had last week about what tells you if an animal is real or pretend actually stuck!

4.  Tyler found an old key ring that had a small flash light attached to it. On a trip to the store I hear Tyler say "Mom, are my eyes glowing?" I look in the mirror to see him pointing the flashlight into his ear. When I said that it wasn't working, he moved it into his mouth.

3.  We took a hike up to a small waterfall with the kids. When we arrived at the waterfall, Tyler asked if he could put his feet in the water. Of course we told him yes but before I could get the rest of the sentence out he jumped in, shoes and all!

2.  We picked up some cherries this week which Ty LOVES! He was eating a bowl this morning and yells "Hey Mom! This one doesn't have a pick in it. I guess it really wanted me to eat it!"

1.  Bailey has figured out what a question is. When you ask her a familiar question like "Do you want to eat?" she'll answer and run to her highchair. But when asked an unfamiliar question, she responds every time with a great big toothy smile and a nod of the head. My goal this weekend, to record it!

Have a great weekend!! :-)

If you put a boy in water.....

Tyler hasn't spent much time around water. We moved to North Carolina when he was 14 months old and there aren't a lot of swimming lakes in the area. Every summer when we return home to visit family we make sure to get him to the lake and our families pools to expose him. Since Bailey was born last summer and I didn't want to travel that far with a newborn, Ty hadn't been in a pool in a while. The first few times, he was a little unsure and wouldn't let go of the sides of the pool or leave the shallow end.

After taking him swimming everyday (sometimes twice a day) for the entire week that we were in Michigan he got the hang of it!

I am glad he got his Dad's love for water and not his Mom's fear of it!

Wordless Wednesday: How Bailey eats her Rigatoni

She's so proud of herself!! :-)
