Look Who's 1!

It's been a year already! With our family so far away, we kept Bailey's party nice and simple. I made her a t-shirt and her very own chocolate cake!

She had a load of presents to open.
Which she thought meant eat the presents....

Eventually, big brother Tyler stepped in to help.

We tried out a new cake recipie since she can't have egg or milk.

Which she seemed to enjoy!
We love you baby girl!!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs

Whew, we've been busy during the last couple of weeks. Multiple birthday celebrations for the little girl, preschool graduation and parties, and lots of guests in and out of our home. I did manage to find some time to write down a few laughs though. Enjoy!

1.  My 4 year old son is learning the art of small talk. This past week we went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription, they know us well there. He began talking with the clerk at the counter. The conversation went something like this:  "Will you be working on Saturday?" -Tyler "No, I have Saturday off" -Clerk "Maybe I'll see you at the grocery store." -Tyler "Possibly, I do need to get some groceries." -Clerk  My son is setting up dates already with WAY older women at the age of 4.

2.  As I said, we have been celebrating preschool graduation this week. On Monday, they took a field trip to Monkey Joes (a local restaurant that has bounce houses and slides to play on). Tyler some how managed to get a rug-burn-like injury on his elbow. For the rest of the night he refused to move his arm in any direction and no one could look at or touch him.

3.  As Bailey gets older, she has become more difficult to change. Often times, I will let her get up after removing the diaper and catch her a minute or two later to finish this process. 4 times this week, she has decided to pee on the carpet within a few seconds of getting let loose (I think it is time to stop this trend). She is however, kind enough to let us know it is coming as she has decided when naked, it is best to squat while peeing on the carpet.

4.  Living in the south means that we have had to learn a whole new language. Tyler has begun to pick up on saying Ma'am. Yes Ma'am, No Ma'am, Thank you Ma'am, etc. Unfortunately, he hasn't picked up on the fact that when you are talking to a man you are supposed to refer to them as sir. All week this week he has been calling his dad Ma'am!

5.  Tyler is a very picky eater and we have a difficult time getting him to eat most nights, even when it's something he likes. This week he told us that he couldn't eat his pork chop because he was allergic to it. We told him that if he didn't eat he couldn't have a Popsicle for snack. He very quickly responded back with "But I'm not allergic to Popsicles!" He eventually ate his dinner.

Wordless Wednesday

A couple of weeks ago, we had a "pool party" with the neighbors. Here are the highlights:

Bailey had to have her "pool" filled with warm water from the house while the boys enjoyed their ice-cold swimming pool. SMART little girl!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs

I think Tyler knows that I am writing down the funny things he is saying and doing. He was on a roll this week!

1.  Last Sunday Tyler asked to go out into the backyard to play with the dogs. When I went to check on him, this is what I found him doing:
YUCK!!

2.  Going along with number 1, about 20 minutes after going outside to play, we hear Tyler knocking on the slider door. Brandon opens the door to see what was wrong and I hear "I fell off the swing" along with hysterical laughter.

Boys will be boys. We had to spray him with the garden hose before he could come back inside!

3.  During dinner one night this week, I was talking to Brandon about work. Tyler begins clutching his stomach and moaning. Brandon asked him what was wrong and Tyler said "It's just that every time Mommy talks my stomach hurts." Thanks boy, thanks.

4.  For Mother's Day, Tyler and Brandon went to the garden store to buy a rose bush. When they brought it home Tyler told me it was the best smelling rose he could find. Except for a pink rose bush that Daddy wouldn't let him buy because it looked sick. Tyler told me he made dad take every bush out for him to smell because he wanted the "best one."

5.  Tyler wanted to go outside to play one night during the week. We told him he could but only if he cleaned up some of his toys first which he began to do. He would put a toy away and Bailey would take two more out. After about 10 minutes of this Tyler proceeded to tell his sister "That's it Bailey, you're ruining my life!"  And it starts already.....

As I said, Tyler has been on a roll lately!! It was hard choosing which of the crazy things that he has done to include this week.

Wordless Wednesday

Tyler wanted a snack before bed so he went into the kitchen to make himself one. It is hard to tell from these pictures, but this sandwich consists of 4 layers of bread and at least 3 pieces of bologna. All I could do was laugh. :-)

Top 5 Saturday Laughs! 5-12-12

Here goes....

1.  Bailey has become very interested in baby dolls, stuffed animals with eyes, and pictures of babies. This week, she found her picture on the wall and held frequent conversations with it in Bailey language.

2.  Tyler has been practicing his songs for preschool graduation next week. His favorite song goes like this, "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United Steak of America..." I love that boy!

3.  Bailey has begun  hugging anything she can get her hands on, most recently was her big purple ball.
4.  I wore a necklace this week (which I don't do often). Bailey immediately noticed it and started to play with the charm. I told her it was pretty. She then looked at me thinking about this information and then began to look for a bow in her hair. It took me a minute, but I realized that I always tell her when I put them in her hair that they are pretty. To top it off, she looked right at me and said "pretty" several times (which was her 4th word). This child is 100% girl!

5.  I came home from work Thursday and Brandon had already picked the kids up from daycare. Bailey was up in her crib taking a nap so I went to get her and Tyler followed. I immediately noticed that she had a large goose egg on her forehead. When asked about it, Tyler responded with "she was walking in the kitchen and just decided to smack her head on the floor mom."  He is obviously not good at lying. I asked Brandon about the large mark and he said that Tyler was carrying her around the house before nap. Tyler eventually confessed that he dropped her on the hard kitchen floor. Oh, the things this boy does to his sister!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs!

I haven't been very good about blogging on a regular basis, so I'm taking the idea of the Top 5 Saturday Laughs to help get myself into the routine. I hope you enjoy my first 5!

1. Tyler spent last weekend with my Mom and Dad. They came home on Sunday so we could go to the movies to see The Pirates Band of Misfits. The movie wasn't very entertaining and about half-way through it Tyler looks at Papa and says "Don't fall asleep Papa!"  I think he was really reminding himself to stay awake!

2.  Brandon typically beats me home from work. On Tuesday he had both of the kids home and was making dinner. Tyler was carrying around a sippy cup wondering around the house and about 2 steps behind him was Bailey copying his every move. She really loves her big brother!

3.  Bailey came down with high fever Wednesday afternoon and I had to leave work early to pick her up from daycare. Later that night she was walking around shrugging her shoulders every couple of seconds. Naturally, her dad panicked thinking there was something wrong with her. I stopped her, shrugged my shoulders and she responded with an ear to ear grin and did it back. Babies do the silliest things!

4.  On the way to the doctor Thursday to figure out what was going on with Bailey Tyler was asking if he could go back and visit the dentist again (I think he wants another treasure box prize). I said he could but not until October. He responded with "Bye Mom. I'm at Grandma's house now."  Do you think she spoils him??

5.  Bailey still isn't feeling very well and has been a total Mommy's girl for the past several days. Today, Brandon sat next to me on the couch trying his chances at a back rub. As soon as I touched him Bailey crawled over and pushed him out of her way. No one is getting near this Momma except her!

I hope you enjoyed some of our families laughs from this week!
