Pinterst Project #3!

I bought my husband a new ice cream maker a few years ago that has been sitting around collecting dust. I tried to use it once, but the ice cream that I made didn't resemble ice cream AT ALL!! I found a recipe on pinterest that looked super easy so this weekend I gave it another try.

Ingredients:  1/2 gallon of chocolate milk, 1 tub of cool whip, and 1 can of condensed milk

The final result, delicious! The same link has a recipe for orange flavored ice cream, I might have to try that one next week! :)

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 1-26-2012

5.  Bailey climbed on the couch one night and accidentally hit me in the head with her head. I rubbed my head and said ow. She apparently didn't want me to have attention because she took my hand off of my head, told me no, and then rubbed her own head and fake cried.

4.  Going along with #5:  Bailey must have thought the accidental head butt was funny because she then purposefully head butted me another 20 times each time yelling at me for complaining that it hurt.

3.  We started potty training last weekend. The best parts of potty training, waving goodbye to the pee as mommy flushes it and slapping the foamy hand soap between your hands to watch it fly all over the bathroom.

2.  On day 2 of potty training, Bailey peed on the floor. She made sure we all knew it too, every few minutes or so for the rest of the day she had to walk over the spot touch it and say pee.

1.  Tyler was trying to convince Grandma to come and get him so he could spend the night at their house. She said she would but had to wait for Papa to get out of work because she didn't want to make the drive all by herself. His solution "Grandma, just bring Maya (the dog). She's your best friend!"

Pinterest Project #2

I may have cheated on this one, but the real goal was for me to COMPLETE pinterest projects not start and finish right? That's my story! I started this hat for Bailey back in, um well I think it might have actually been last summer.... Anyway, I forced myself to finish it this weekend and here's the end result:

Not bad for my first crochet project!

Our Potty Training Adventure

January 19, 2013:  The Beginning

I got up this morning with NO intention of making the plunge into potty training. After eating breakfast I began checking my blog and writing my laughs as I do most Saturday mornings. Bailey came running into the living room dragging her froggy potty along for the ride. I ignored her and continued blogging (world's best mom award anyone?). She then began to pull her pants off herself and I figured I should probably give her some attention. She didn't need to go, but had recently gone. I figured what the hey, lets give this a whirl.

Off to the store we went to get some supplies. We armed ourselves with some girly training pants, plastic pants, and some real big girl undies (wishful thinking?). When we got home the real dirty work began!

I didn't know that putting on underwear, taking them off, and putting on a different pair was so much fun! The first few hours were spent doing just this. Hey, at least she was taking an interest? After our first accident it was time for a nap so back into diapers we went.

When Bailey got up from her nap she insisted that she needed to go back to the 'how many times can I change my undies?' game that she had started earlier in the day. With constant encouragement to sit on the potty (which she would do but only for 2-3 seconds at a time) she eventually had accidents #2 and #3 for the day.

At this point I gave up (shhhh don't tell the toddler!) and we went outside to enjoy the mild weather until Grandma and Papa came to pick Tyler up for the weekend. Brandon and I snuck out of the house for a quick childless dinner (first one in years!). When we came home Bailey was back into a diaper and ready for bed. Grandma says she might have used the potty, but she couldn't tell for sure because she had tried the good old 'warm water' trick to see if that would help.

After day 1 of potty training, we have officially had 3 accidents and 0 (1?) success. I have however, learned a few things.

1.  This kid can hold it FOREVER!
2.  She will only sit on the potty for more than 2 seconds if I give up my kindle.
3.  Underwear makes a great toy!

I hope tomorrow is better!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 1-19-2013

5.  Checking out at the store takes FOREVER right now. Bailey has to hand each item directly to the cashier and say "Here you go!" every time. It's a good thing she's cute and I usually only take her to fun girly stores like Hobby Lobby and Michael's where they appreciate cute toddlers!

4.  If you come to my house be on full alert! If Bailey isn't attacking your toes (see last weeks post) she's identifying your body parts. And by identifying I really mean sticking her finger in your eye, up your nose, in your ear or pulling your hair all while excitedly squealing what it is she is touching.

3.  We got an early start on the tantrum throwing, they began at 4 months. Now, at 20 months we have pretty well mastered them. The latest, the running man. Pick Bailey up when she doesn't want to be picked up and she will immediately begin running through the air.

2.  I woke up last Sunday coughing. Tyler came bursting through the door, ran to my side and put his hand on my forehead. He then told Daddy "I think she has a fever. She needs Tylenol!"

1.  I got peed on. Yup, that's right and not by the toddler either. I was sitting on the edge of the bathtub getting the water ready when Tyler burst in to go to the bathroom. Apparently watching mom check the water temperature is much more important than aiming... Come on kid, you're almost 6!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 1-12-13

5.  Bailey was throwing her usual tantrum last night because she didn't want us to put her PJ's on. She ran away toward the front door (which happens to have a tile floor) and threw herself on the floor. Plans changed once she realized how cold tile floor is on a bare belly!

4.  We still have the paci. I just can't take it away yet. But we are down to just 2 because she keeps loosing them. I got her up one morning and there was only 1 in her crib. I spent all day keeping an eye out for the missing paci but never found it. The next morning I picked up her cabbage patch baby and found the missing paci as well as several legos had been stuffed into the doll's pjs.

3.  Tyler got a DS for Christmas and will not put it down. Bailey has confiscated his old Mobigo so she can play copycat. When the DS comes out, she finds the Mobigo. Wherever Tyler is playing it, Bailey is right next to or behind him.

2.  Socks have become an obsession. No one can wear them or they will be removed by a very stubborn toddler. What makes it worse? Once your socks have been removed, she then finds it completely necessary to look through all of your toes at the sock fuzz and say "Ewwwww!"

1.  Tyler randomly walked past Bailey and hit her. I said "Don't hit her. She isn't your own personal punching bag!" His response, "Well she looks like it!"

Have a great weekend!

Pinterest Project #1: Hair Bows!

Pinterest project #1 is now complete! I've been wanting to make a korker bow for Bailey for a while. It took some time to make, but I was very distracted throughout the process by my toddler, lunch, another crafting project, a trip to the store..... :0) It turned out super cute though!

Step 1:  wrap the ribbon around a dowel and pin or clip at the ends. Place these on a foil lined pan and bake in the oven.

Step #2 (ish?):  Cut the ribbon into smaller equal lengths, I think mine were around 3 1/2 inches each or so.

Step #3:  line an alligator clip with a matching ribbon.

Step # (well the rest of it):  It took me a while to get this part done. Different websites suggested different things. I tried to tie the pieces together but that just wasn't working out for me. So I heated up the trusty glue gun and just 'stuck' them all together. I think it works?

And last but not least, put it in Bailey's hair only to be ripped out within seconds. Someday this girl will appreciate good fashion, I just know it!!

My creation certainly isn't pinterest pin worthy, but I think it's cute. I just need to get a more willing model.... I will be hitting up Michael's soon to pick up more cute ribbon and create a few more!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 1-5-2013

5.  Tyler got new camouflage pj' s for  Christmas. Every night we now have to play the where did Tyler go game...

4.  Bailey got a toy vacuum cleaner for Christmas. It doesn't pick up any dirt, but it sure is a great torture device for the dog...

3.  Someone found the water dispenser on the fridge, and the water dispenser is now locked.

2. I was sitting on the couch one night and got up to go get something. When I came back Bailey was sitting in my spot with an ear to ear grin. She said "Mommy pot!" When I tried to sit back down I was told to "Moo!" Little stinker!

1.  Tyler was pretending to be Santa like Charlie does in The Santa Clause. He stops after a few minutes and asked "Hey mom, do Santa's reindeer have to go pee?" To which I replied, "Well are they alive?" Tyler thinks and says"Yup! Oh man, that reindeer just pooped all over that house!"
