Top 5 Reasons I Shouldn't Have Potty Trained

Bailey decided a few months ago that it was time for her to potty train. Yes you read that right, my then 20 month old daughter decided it was time for her to potty train. round 1 didn't work out so well (if I knew how to link that post I would, but I don't so sorry). She was pretty close to getting it, and then got the stomach flu. I waited a couple of months and tried again over spring break. She is most of the way there (still having an accident or 2 here and there). But part of me really wishes I wouldn't have listened to her! Here is my list of the top 5 reasons why I shouldn't have potty trained!

5.  Taking her to the bathroom every 20 minutes, takes.a.lot.of.time.

4.  We have gone through a ridiculous amount of hand soap! I knew the foamy stuff was fun, but really?

3.  The toilet paper, oh the toilet paper! I'm all for letting her grow-up but seriously kid, must you do everything yourself!?!

2.  Public trips, are not so much fun anymore. She still can't hold it for more than 2 seconds so we always put her in a diaper when we go out. Now, she LOUDLY exclaims what she has done in her diaper when she does it for the world to hear! This of course after crying for a minute before doing so because she knows she's not supposed too.

1.  4 people, 1 downstairs toilet, enough said.

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 4-20-2013

5.  My husband is a NASCAR geek. He was watching it last week and Bailey repeatedly told the cars "Bye car!!" and waved as they drove around, and around, and around, and around...

4.  Bailey has decided that all words need to end in a y. It's now a cuppy, hockey (sock), chipy, booky, helpy...

3.  Tyler woke up thirsty one night and came into our room to steal dad's drink. He told him that he wanted a cup of water in his room, which didn't happen. When he woke up in the morning, we heard him shout "Hey! I ordered water!"

2.  While walking into the mall a little girl smiled at Tyler. He explained "Mom, she smiled at me because we're going to get married!"

1.  On our way to practice Tyler was talking about a goose. I asked him what a goose was called when there is more than one. His response, "If you have more than one goose, you have ducks."

Pinterest Project #4

I'm obsessed. I'm completely and totally obsessed. With what you ask? With those super cute neon socks that are so popular with the the tweens and teens. So what's an adult to do? That's right, live through their children! Sorry Bailey, like it our not you're stuck wearing the socks that mommy is too old for! The down fall, the cute neon socks that I found at our local Walmart don't have the non-slip grippers on the bottoms of them. No good when you're talking about an overactive, top-heavy, uncoordinated  toddler. So I checked in with Pinterest and duh, put a little puffy paint on the bottom and voila! Non-slip cute socks!

So I tried to get a little fancy with the puffy paint, talented I am not. Bailey doesn't mind that they don't look so great on the bottom though, she's just glad she doesn't fall flat on her face as she runs full tilt through the kitchen!

Top 5 Saturday Laughs: 4-13-13

It's been a beautiful week! We've had several days in the upper 70's and low 80's along with tons of sunshine! The kids and I have enjoyed playing outside. Tyler has even been practicing his spelling words on the sidewalk! I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

5.  Last week was Spring Break and I took advantage of the extra time home to start round 2 of potty training. Bailey has done really well and even went 3 straight days both day and night this week with no accidents! But all this 'your a big girl!' and clapping stuff has really started to go to her head. All of a sudden she thinks she needs/can do EVERYTHING by herself.

4.  I took Bailey to the store to buy her some new 'big girl undies' and she picked out My Little Pony. She wanted them on as soon as we got home. It took her a minute to really look at them but once she did, her eyes got as big as quarters and she said 'WOW!' while pointing to the pony and smiling!

3.  We've been watching Splash on TV. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a reality show where celebrities and former sports stars compete against each other diving. Last week they partner dove. 2 of the ladies stepped up to interview before their dive and Tyler said "I like those 2 girls!"

2.  I cleaned the hermit crab cage out and left it on the table in the dining room for a few minutes. Bailey climbed up on a chair to peek at them. I told her not to touch because they would bite (I know, I know, they pinch. But she wouldn't understand that!) She spent the next 10 minutes telling them "No, no bite puppies."

1.  Tyler and I were watching the Tigers play on TV. He said in a very series voice "Mom, sometimes my baseball team is on TV too. We're going to be on TV Saturday."

Wordless Wednesday: 4-10-2013

What's a girl to do when she's stuck at big brother's t-ball practice, play on the playground of course! It's okay, Mommy didn't REALLY want to watch brother bat anyway. ;0)

Pinterest Project #... Oh forget it!

So I made this silly resolution this year that I would accomplish at least 2 Pinterest projects each month. To date, I've accomplished well, umm 4? I blame the world. I wanted to make towels with hoods, but they weren't on sale. I wanted to make a wreath using a feather boa, but the dollar store is fresh out. I tried to create a wreath for Easter using rattan balls, again my dollar store stinks. Enough excuses already. I have done a few things at school and will take pictures to share, eventually. I promise to do better! (At choosing next years resolution. Just sayin'.) ;0)

Baseball Season!

I grew up playing softball and going to watch the Tigers play at Tiger Stadium in Detroit, MI. It is the one sport that I have always dreamed of watching my own children play. I finally felt like Tyler was old enough (and coordinated enough) this year to learn how to play. Much to my dismay, when I asked him if he wanted to play he told me no. I didn't listen and signed him up anyway hoping that I didn't waste $120. After a difficult season of soccer that involved a lot of tears and refusing to play, I'm proud to say that my boy has developed a love of baseball! Here are some pictures from his first game:

It was KILLING me at this point to not run out onto the field and fix his pant leg! Let it go mama, let it go...

I need to play with my camera some more to see if I can figure out how to get good pictures without the shadow of the fence and I'll probably use my bigger lens next time, but I have plenty of games left to practice! :0)

In honor of the Tiger's opening day I thought I'd post an old, but favorite, picture!
